Granted it's new and everything, but chat around here just isn't doing the job. Nobody shows up basically, that I've seen anyways. And the last time I was on chat here, everybody was talking to each other like they had all met... which creeped me out.

So, in the interest of seeing new faces, I'll be doing a channel weekly (no firm times yet!) where Newsviners can just idle and hang out. No need to debate, heck, you don't even need to say anything... just drop in and idle with me IRC-style. Speaking of IRC, it would be really nice if the chat client was built around IRC so we didn't have to rely on keeping a browser window open and then occasionally checking to make sure we're still actually connected to the channel. IRC has many benefits...
